The crash happened shortly following takeoff at 6:45 p.m. from Covington Municipal Airport, and the airplane appeared to have motor troubles, according to Covington Police Division Captain Ken Malcom who spoke with Fox 5.

Witnesses explained to law enforcement that the twin-engine Cessna appeared to have concerns attaining altitude and began creating unconventional motor noises.

A Standard Mills spokesperson instructed a reporter for CBS 46 that the organization is working with regulation enforcement.

“A compact aircraft crashed around the General Mills Covington, GA producing facility. No staff members were being harmed and we are partnering with the FAA and neighborhood legislation enforcement,” the spokesperson said.

A spokesperson for the Federal Aviation Administration stated that the crash took place at close to 7:05 p.m. and did not have further information.

The Normal Mills plant is found about 30 miles east of Atlanta, according to Fox 5.
